INTRODUCING THE CEE-HOPE NIGERIAN CHILD RELIEF FUND (FOR RELIEF & REHABILITATION) FOR CHILDREN IN DISTRESS

In light of worsening crises in the northern part of Nigeria which have impacted severely on children in terms of displacement, psychological torture and general impoverishment, the Centre for Children’s Health Education, Orientation and Protection (CEE-HOPE) is embarking on a major relief campaign (funds, food items, beddings, clothing etc) for children. The realized fund will also go into rehabilitation programs for affected families in and out of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)’s camps. The fund shall similarly extend to children in acute distress in other parts of the country (eg child victims of flood and other natural disasters as well as out-of-school children).

It is an initiative of our charity (registered in Nigeria) to compliment the works of the national relief agencies and other charitable organizations, many of which are currently overstretched by the sheer magnitude of the problems.

Only recently, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) rated Nigeria as the third country with the highest number of refugees and IDPs in the world, sharing more than 5% of the global 50 million displaced persons with several thousands of children and their families taking refuge in Chad, Niger and Cameroon, owing to the upsurge in conflict in the North East. Only last year, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) rated Nigeria as having 10.5 million out-of-school-children, and the world’s highest. Also, In 2013, Save Our Children, the international organization also named Nigeria as one of the top countries where it is dangerous to be born a child owing to a grim mixture of poverty, infrastructural deficits among a myriad of man-made problems. The forecast for this year’s flooding is bleak and many children especially in coastal areas face uncertain times in the hands of nature.

We therefore call on well-meaning Nigerians and people of good-will everywhere to lend a helping hand in this hour of need. Your gift no matter how small can make a difference in a child’s life, in putting a smile on families’ faces, indeed, in INSPIRING HOPE in our country, touching ONE CHILD AT A TIME…

There shall be occasional account of funds realized on this site and on other sites which will generously carry the announcement.

Thanks and God bless!
